His ways are higher than mine

Isaiah 55:9

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

How many times have I quoted this verse? Yet there’s something that keeps telling me I don’t know much what it means.

So I decided to meditate if perhaps I might understand even a little.

The highest I’ve come close to the heavens is just 36,000ft above the sea level and yet the sky still looks way up there out of the window of an aircraft.

I can’t measure the skies from the earth, talk less of the heavens….yet he who inhabits the heavens and made the earth his footstool says his ways are higher than mine like the measurements of the heaven to the earth….(he sure must have the figures of the measurement and he must know what he is saying)

God’s ways are marvelous in all its entity.

One asked him for fish, he made him a fisherman… And taught him to fish for souls

Another asked for a job but he said my plan is to make you the giver of jobs.

Yet another asked for a child he built him a dynasty of Kings.

A man had a dream to rule, yet he found himself in the prison and he wondered why… God says, “The shortest way I can bring you to the throne is through the prison’s doors.”

The way of man to the top is to move up, but the way of God to the top is to come down first. Until you humble yourself before the mighty hand of God, there is no lifting up for you. You know why? It’s because it is God that does the lifting, not scheming, and definitely not men.

king Nebuchadnezzar learnt this the hard way: Seven periods of time was decreed for  him to live among wild animals until he learnt that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world and gives them to anyone he chooses… Even to the lowliest of men. (Daniel 4:25)

No matter the level of my wisdom and insight, I’ll get to understand some things in retrospect.

He keeps saying in John 13:7

“You don’t understand now why I am doing it; someday you will.”

God can never be anxious about the future…you know why??? Because as far as he is concerned, the future is present to him…there is no difference in time to him, be it the past, present or future. He creates time but lives in Eternity.

We are limited but he is limitless.

There are lots of things we do not really understand now, but someday we will look back and understand why he had to do it the way he did it.

Our God is a master planner and he has it all planned out…

His ways are not our ways

We have our lives all planned the way we would have wanted it to go, but like the scriptures say

Proverbs 19:21 : You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail.

Jeremiah 10:23 : I know, O LORD, that a man’s life is not his own; it is not for man to direct his steps.

We human try to scheme our ways through situations…even when God shows us a vision or dream, we are forever planning strategies to bring it to manifestation yet it results only in frustration and deviation from the original plan. But God In his great wisdom, he has the master plan. His ways are marvelous; you can’t fit him in a box. He always does all things for his glory. His strategies are so powerful yet very simple that you will almost miss it. He uses even oppositions to his own advantage.

The same God that delivered the three Hebrew men, watched as Stephen was stoned to death.

He hid Moses from being killed and preserved him till old age but gave Jesus up to be killed after three & a half year of ministry.

The slave traders were Joseph’s transport to Egypt’s palace for the preservation of souls.

Judas betrayed Jesus, and Peter denied him also, yet Peter was saved and Judas was destroyed for He will have mercy on whoever he chooses and hardens the other for destruction.

You see a wicked man flourishing and a righteous one seemingly suffering, yet the wicked man will soon die and the righteous one will be saved and times will turn round.

At another time, you see a righteous man die early and the wicked living on and on… But the righteous man was taken early so he won’t fall into iniquity and the wicked was preserved to the saving of his soul… Mysterious God!

Sometimes, we cannot comprehend while he seems silent on some issue, while it seems he wouldn’t bring about justice immediately, but wisdom lies in knowing he works all things (both the good and the ugly) together for his good purpose.

Have u ever seen a stage artist….he starts painting and u wonder what nonsense he is doing…the painting has no meaning to you until the final stroke of color is applied and the artist turn the board around and u have a beautiful piece.

Ecc 3: 11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. (NLT)

We don’t see like God sees.

Man looks at the outward disposition of a person but God looks at the state and the intent of the heart.

We judge by outward appearance but God judges by looking at a man’s heart.

We see prison, he sees palace.

We see a coward, he sees a mighty man of valor.

We see a shepherd, he sees a king

We see a slave, he sees a queen

We see a carpenter, he sees the savior of the world

Yet, in spite of our difficulty in understanding God’s ways and thoughts, we can rejoice in His mercy, the promises he gives us and in his ultimate control of everything.

He will not leave nor forsake us.

He works all things for our good.

His thought towards us are good and not evil.

We may not know tomorrow but we know he who holds and owns tomorrow.

So here is my conclusion.

While his ways may be higher than mine, I can rest in his love for me!
